Mauritania is a country in Western Africa, part of the broader Africa region. Its capital is Nouakchott, and the country has coastal access rather than being landlocked. At around 1,030,700 km² in area, Mauritania uses Arabic as a major language and its currency is the Mauritanian ouguiya (UM). On the map, it shares a border with 3 other countries, which is a useful clue when narrowing down its shape in the quiz.
